Software Freedom Day 2012

Information and Communication Technology Centre of The Federal University Oye Ekiti is organizing Software Freedom Day (SFD) inconjunction with Computer Science Department.

The event is expected to attract software programmer and enthusiast across the country. The event is scheduled to hold from 10th to15th of September.

The goal in this celebration is to educate the public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, government, home, business and everywhere.

A Pre-conference program would run from 10th to 14th of September 2012, and a concurrent training session in Network Management and Monitoring Using FOSS, FOSS Business Model by ICT@innovation/GIZ Germany and Linux Essentials by Linux Professional Institute (this includes an optional Certification Exam) will take place during this period.

On 15th of September, the Software Freedom Day, there will be a conference which includes the following:

  • Presentations (Call for paper submission is currently on going)
  • Exhibitions
  • Open discussions
  • Social activities
